What are Dubai's Free Zones?
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there are economic zones (free zones) where it is possible to establish a company with 100% foreign capital and a corporate tax rate of 0%.
Currently, there are nearly 45 free zones in the UAE, most of which are located in Dubai.
Each offers its own tax incentives, and the tax exemption period for corporate tax varies from 15 to 50 years.
About Dubai Taxes
The UAE Ministry of Finance has announced that it will introduce a new 9% corporate income tax
in the UAE starting from the fiscal year beginning on or after June 1, 2023.
In addition, the UAE also introduced a value-added tax (VAT) in January 2018.
However, the UAE's 9% corporate tax will not be applied to all sales.
If the annual taxable income is less than AED 375,000, the corporate tax rate will be 0%.
Also, if the annual taxable income is AED 375,000 or more but the sales are less than AED 3 million, the corporate tax rate will be 0%.
The corporate tax rate will be 9% if the annual taxable income is AED 375,000 or more and sales exceed AED 3 million.
Therefore, it can be said that it is still low compared to the rest of the world.
